The Veterinary Wound Library
The development of the ‘Veterinary Wound Library’ is an independent initiative founded by Georgie Hollis to collect cases illustrating techniques in animal wound management using the most up to date products available. The project includes making products available for trial, with the consent and support of manufacturers, to include the growing range of technologies and application techniques in modern wound care in small, large and exotic species.
The Veterinary Wound Library was launched at the end of March 2008 and is available for use by veterinary professionals.
Research and Trials
An evaluation of Primapore, Leukomed and Leukomed T dressings and their relative wear time in post-surgical wounds of small animals.
A pilot trial was conducted at several centres during 2008 with results that favoured Leukomed T for wear time in post surgical wounds in small animals. The number of participants was low at less than 30 and a larger trial is required to provide definitive, publishable data to confirm these findings.
