Good wound care aims to optimise what is a natural process obstructed by disease or circumstance. There is a growing and complex range of over 2000 products and technologies to choose from to manage wounds yet it remains a science that borders upon art.

Scientific approaches reduce the need to ‘guess’ and aim to find repeatable, justified methods to solve a particular problem.

Technology is now moving even further forward towards micro-management of the wound environment in response to growing economic costs associated with chronic wounds in humans. But these benefits are not readily transferred into veterinary practice simply because the commercial gain is often not high enough to justify further development in the area.

Intelligent wound care’s philosophy is dedicated to overcoming the lack of information in the veterinary application of wound technologies, exploring new and existing veterinary applications and encouraging research, development and adaptations through applied scientific principles.
